Наприкінці грудня 2023 року життя Світлани Маслюк перетворилося на безкінечне очікування дзвінка від сина. Сергій Блохін із Глухова щодня виходив на зв’язок, навіть із передової. Та 28 грудня телефон мовчав. Попереду були поїздки, пошуки, морги, ДНК-експертизи й надія, яка не згасала до останнього. Історію Сергія — військового, парамедика та людини, яка навіть на війні не втрачала людяності, — у спогадах матері.

Вечір, після якого все змінилося

Для пані Світлани дзвінки від сина були щоденною традицією. Сергій телефонував завжди — незалежно від того, був удома чи на фронті. Тому коли ввечері 28 грудня 2023 року зв’язку не було, жінка одразу відчула тривогу.

«Я чекала до самого вечора. Потім почала телефонувати сама, але у відповідь чула лише автовідповідач. Написала його побратиму — там теж мовчання. І тоді вже зрозуміла: щось сталося», — пригадує мати військового.

За два дні, 30 грудня, жінка пішла до військкомату. Каже, поки люди готувалися до свят, вона думала лише про одне — дізнатися, де її син.

«Мені сказали звертатися в поліцію та писати заяву про зникнення. Там перевірили інформацію і повідомили, що Сергій уже вважається безвісти зниклим. А ще сказали, що знайшли тіла військових і, можливо, серед них є він», — розповідає Світлана.

Після Нового року родина поїхала до Дніпра на ДНК-експертизу. Тоді результати не підтвердили загибель Сергія. Саме це й дало родині надію продовжувати пошуки.

Місяці надії та пошуків

Після поїздки до моргу почалися довгі тижні очікування. Пані Світлана телефонувала до шпиталів, зверталася в координаційні центри, писала листи та переглядала групи пошуку зниклих військових.

Вона каже: найбільше хотілося хоча б якоїсь звістки.

«Я викладала його фотографії всюди, де тільки могла. Постійно думала: а раптом хтось бачив його, впізнає чи напише бодай щось. Вірила до останнього», — говорить жінка.

Офіційне підтвердження загибелі Сергія Блохіна родина отримала 24 лютого 2024 року.

«Відтоді для мене не існує свят. Той період перед Новим роком був суцільним кошмаром. І навіть зараз десь усередині живе думка: а раптом це помилка?» — зізнається мати.

Людина, яка не сиділа без діла

До повномасштабної війни Сергій Блохін жив звичайним цивільним життям. Працював у Глухові на підприємствах «Модуль» та «Електропанель», пізніше переїхав до Сум. Захоплювався технікою, ремонтував комп’ютери, любив малювати та проводити час на природі.

Мати згадує: син постійно будував плани на майбутнє.

«Він хотів жити в Сумах, мріяв про власне житло, сім’ю, дітей. У нього все було попереду. Він навіть кота завів — Персика. Дуже любив його», — розповідає Світлана.

На початку повномасштабної війни Сергій повернувся до Глухова, щоби бути ближче до рідних. Та згодом знову поїхав працювати до Сум.

У серпні 2023 року, напередодні дня народження, чоловік отримав повістку просто в маршрутці.

«Він не шукав способів уникнути служби. Пішов до військкомату і прийняв це спокійно. 13 серпня, у свій день народження, він уже був у частині», — каже мати.

Від командира бойової машини до парамедика

Сергій служив у 116-й окремій механізованій бригаді. Спочатку був командиром бойової машини, а пізніше пройшов навчання на парамедика.

Саме тоді він познайомився з побратимом Олександром, із яким дуже здружився. Після загибелі Сергія чоловік підтримує зв’язок із його матір’ю та часто згадує друга.

«Ми разом проходили навчання, разом були на завданнях. Він був дуже особливою людиною. Навіть під обстрілами знаходив якісь дивні речі, які допомагали триматися», — згадує Олександр.

Побратим розповідає: Сергій не міг просто сидіти без діла навіть у найнебезпечніших умовах.

«Одного разу під час обстрілу він почав клеїти шпалери в укритті, бо йому не подобалося, що сиплеться стіна. Це звучить смішно, але це був Сергій — людина, яка навіть у війні намагалася створити хоч якийсь порядок і затишок», — говорить військовий.

На фронті Сергій мав позивний «Бьорн» — через любов до однойменного енергетика. Побратими згадують його як людину, яка вміла підтримати навіть у найважчі моменти.

Останній бій в Авдіївці

28 грудня 2023 року Сергій Блохін загинув в Авдіївці внаслідок мінометного обстрілу опорного пункту. Разом із ним загинули ще дванадцять військових.

Побратим Олександр розповів матері Сергія: того дня її син узагалі не мав залишатися на позиції.

«Вони мали разом піти по мастило для генератора. Але Сергій відправив іншого хлопця, а сам залишився перебирати медикаменти. Саме тоді почався обстріл», — каже Світлана.

За словами побратима, після удару підійти до позиції вже було неможливо.

«Він казав, що там усе палало. Був сильний мінометний обстріл, і хлопці просто не могли нічого зробити», — говорить жінка.

Час, який зупинився

Сергію Блохіну був 31 рік. Після його загибелі більшість особистих речей згоріла в Авдіївці. У матері залишилися лише годинники сина.

Один із них — військовий — вона передала до музею. Інший, цивільний, залишила вдома.

«Час на ньому зупинився, як і життя Сергія», — тихо каже пані Світлана.

Пам’ять про військового береже і його побратим Олександр. Він згадує: навіть у найстрашніші моменти Сергій умів підтримати інших.

«Він часто повторював: “Це всього лише сон”. Ми сміялися, хоча навколо були вибухи й постійна небезпека. Мені дуже його не вистачає. Для мене це величезна втрата», — говорить побратим.

У грудні 2024 року Сергія Блохіна посмертно нагородили орденом «За мужність» III ступеня. А його мама й досі приносить на могилу сина улюблений енергетик — так, ніби продовжує їхню невидиму розмову.

By the end of December 2023, Svitlana Maslyuk’s life had become an endless wait for a call from her son. Serhiy Blokhin, from Hlukhiv, had been in touch every day, even from the front lines. But on December 28, the phone remained silent. What lay ahead were trips, searches, morgues, DNA tests, and hope that never faded until the very end. The story of Serhiy—a soldier, a paramedic, and a man who never lost his humanity, even in war—as told through his mother’s memories.

The evening that changed everything

For Svitlana, calls from her son were a daily tradition. Serhiy always called—whether he was at home or on the front lines. So when there was no connection on the evening of December 28, 2023, she immediately felt alarmed.

“I waited until late in the evening. Then I started calling him myself, but all I heard was the answering machine. I messaged his comrade—silence there too. And that’s when I realized: something had happened,” recalls the soldier’s mother.

Two days later, on December 30, the woman went to the military registration office. She says that while people were preparing for the holidays, she had only one thing on her mind—finding out where her son was.

“They told me to go to the police and file a missing person report. They checked the information and informed me that Serhiy was already considered missing in action. They also said that they had found the bodies of soldiers and that he might be among them,” Svitlana recounts.

After New Year’s, the family traveled to Dnipro for a DNA test. At that time, the results did not confirm Serhiy’s death. That is precisely what gave the family hope to continue the search.

Months of Hope and Searches

After the trip to the morgue, long weeks of waiting began. Svitlana called hospitals, contacted coordination centers, wrote letters, and scoured groups dedicated to finding missing soldiers.
She says: what she wanted most was just some kind of news.

“I posted his photos everywhere I could. I kept thinking: what if someone saw him, recognized him, or wrote at least something. I believed until the very end,” the woman says.

The family received official confirmation of Serhiy Blokhin’s death on February 24, 2024.

“Since then, there have been no holidays for me. That period before New Year’s was a complete nightmare. And even now, somewhere deep inside, the thought lingers: what if this is a mistake?” the mother admits.

A man who never sat idle

Before the full-scale war, Serhiy Blokhin led an ordinary civilian life. He worked in Hlukhiv at the “Modul” and “Elektropanel” companies, and later moved to Sumy. He was fascinated by technology, repaired computers, loved to draw, and enjoyed spending time in nature.

His mother recalls: her son was constantly making plans for the future.

“He wanted to live in Sumy, dreamed of his own home, a family, and children. He had his whole life ahead of him. He even got a cat—Persik. He loved him very much,” says Svitlana.

At the start of the full-scale war, Serhiy returned to Hlukhiv to be closer to his family. But later, he went back to work in Sumy.

In August 2023, on the eve of his birthday, he received his draft notice right on the bus.

“He didn’t look for ways to avoid service. He went to the military registration office and accepted it calmly. On August 13, his birthday, he was already at his unit,” says his mother.

From Combat Vehicle Commander to Paramedic

Serhiy served in the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. At first, he was a combat vehicle commander, and later he trained to become a paramedic.

It was then that he met his comrade Oleksandr, with whom he became very close. Since Serhiy’s death, Oleksandr has stayed in touch with his mother and often speaks of his friend.

“We trained together and went on missions together. He was a very special person. Even under fire, he’d find some strange things that helped us hang on,” recalls Oleksandr.

His comrade says: Serhiy couldn’t just sit around doing nothing, even in the most dangerous conditions.
“Once, during shelling, he started putting up wallpaper in the shelter because he didn’t like that the wall was crumbling. It sounds funny, but that was Serhiy—a man who, even in war, tried to create at least some order and comfort,” says the soldier.

On the front lines, Serhiy’s call sign was “Björn”—because of his love for the character of the same name. His comrades remember him as someone who knew how to offer support even in the toughest moments.

The Last Battle in Avdiivka

On December 28, 2023, Serhiy Blokhin was killed in Avdiivka as a result of mortar fire on a stronghold. Twelve other soldiers were killed alongside him.

His comrade Oleksandr told Serhiy’s mother: her son wasn’t even supposed to be at the position that day.
“They were supposed to go together to get oil for the generator. But Serhiy sent another guy, and he stayed behind to sort through the medical supplies. That’s when the shelling began,” says Svitlana.

According to his comrade, after the strike, it was already impossible to approach the position.

“He said everything was on fire there. There was heavy mortar fire, and the guys simply couldn’t do anything,” the woman says.

Time that stood still

Serhiy Blokhin was 31 years old. After his death, most of his personal belongings were burned in Avdiivka. His mother was left with only her son’s watches.

She donated one of them—a military watch—to the museum. She kept the other, a civilian watch, at home.
“Time has stopped on it, just like Serhiy’s life,” says Svitlana quietly.

His comrade-in-arms, Oleksandr, also cherishes the memory of the soldier. He recalls that even in the most terrifying moments, Serhiy knew how to support others.

“He often said, ‘It’s just a dream.’ We laughed, even though there were explosions and constant danger all around us. I miss him so much. For me, this is a tremendous loss,” says his comrade.

In December 2024, Serhiy Blokhin was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” of the Third Degree. And his mother still brings her son’s favorite energy drink to his grave—as if continuing their invisible conversation.
